Perth’s original ANZAC House opened on the St Georges Terrace site (corner of Irwan Street) in 1934, featuring elements of the Art Deco architectural style of the era replacing the older Soldier’s Institute in Government Gardens.
Perth’s first ANZAC House on St Georges Terrace was officially opened on October 5, 1934, by HRH the Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester, during his royal visit to Western Australia. It was partially funded through a state-wide “Brick Appeal” managed by a gymkhana committee.
