Terence Ronald Ingram was born in the English Midlands on 7th November 1929 to parents William and Alice. Terry’s parent and sister, Alice, emigrated to Australia soon after World War II and after having completed National Service, Terry joined them in Perth on 16th July 1950.
Terry befriended clarinettist Jack Harrison and his wife Marcia and his musical family.

Through the 1950s and 1960s, he worked a variety of jobs, as well as playing in the evenings, but prowess on the piano gradually allowed him to live the life – late nights, venues full of cigarette smoke and clinking glasses – of a professional musician. He was one of the first in W.A. to play the vibraphone.

By the time he met his future wife Gloria, he was established. When the newly opened Sheraton Hotel wanted a resident musician he was it. Among his other venues was the Wardroom restaurant in Subiaco. At Channel seven in the 1970s, he worked closely with presenter Peter Dean. He was musical director on New Faces, on the variety show Anything Goes and accompanied countless singers on Telethon.
Terry died suddenly on 18th October 2000 aged nearly 71.
